For those interested in nominating a new member, please send your nomination letter to our email address which is temporacine@gmail.com. If you are interested in seeking a nomination but don't know a current member, reach out to us via email as well and we will assist you.

The Membership Committee reviews nomination letters on a rolling basis. Earlier this year, the membership criteria was revised to better reflect our community and commitment to advocating, accelerating, and elevating women across Racine County.

To be considered for membership, nominees are required to meet at least three of the following five criteria:

    ·        At least 7 years of work experience

    ·        Holding a mid-level leadership role or higher in her organization

    ·        Community Service Experience

    ·        Holding a post-secondary degree or certification

    ·        And relevant additional achievements (Leadership Racine graduate, Woman of Distinction).

If you have questions on the nomination process, please reach out to us at temporacine@gmail.com.

A quick reminder that we do not have a meeting in August. We will resume our programming on September 8th at Meadowbrook Country Club. In the meantime, please feel free to visit our sister organizations like Tempo Kenosha. I plan to attend their wine tasting event on Wednesday, August 10th. Hope to see you there!

Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you in September!

Today, women play a more significant role than ever before across our global economy as leaders and contributors. In Racine, women serve at all levels of business, nonprofit, government, education, and more. Tempo Racine is focused on providing a space for women to advance their careers, share their knowledge and experience with others, and advocate for the needs of all women in our community.

Tempo Racine members fulfill the organization’s mission through their participation in our monthly meetings, additional offerings, and annual support. I would like to extend a huge thank you to current members, Lynelle Saunders, owner of the Compassionate Peer Support and Training, LLC, and Anna Clementi, vice president of operations of RAMAC, for their continued membership and increased support of Tempo Racine. Please join me in welcoming Compassionate Peer Support and Training, LLC and RAMAC - Racine's Business Champion to our growing list of 2022-23 Networking Sponsors!

Lastly, I am extending my sincerest gratitude to Andrea Kiemen-Rognsvoog, Tempo Racine past president, and Beth Bender, program chair, for their time and assistance over the past year. Although I am sad to see them leave the Board, I am delighted that they continue to support our organization. I look forward to honoring them, as well as other members at the upcoming annual picnic on Thursday, July 14 at Meadowbrook Country Club. Registration will open soon.

Until then, take care and stay well!

This year, we have enjoyed a fabulous list of guest speakers. Starting in September with Debbie Rudan and her presentation on developing a coaching mindset, Tempo Racine members and their guests have enjoyed a variety of educational and interesting topics. We are pleased that many of these guest speakers have been recommended by you, our loyal members.

As we start to plan for next season, we’d like to hear from you. Do you have a speaker or topic you’d like to recommend? Tempo Racine members are welcome to attend the next Programming Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 7th at 12:00 p.m. via Zoom. During this hour-long meeting, we encourage members to share their thoughts on the upcoming 2022-23 schedule.

If you are unable to attend, please feel free to send your suggestions to us at temporacine@gmail.com. Although we cannot accommodate every suggestion in the coming year, we will add your ideas to our list for future consideration.

Kudos to Programming Chair Beth Bender, and the Programming Committee members, Michelle Ortwein and Lynda Knutson, for a wonderful 2021-22 season!

Looking to become more involved in Tempo Racine? We’re looking for committee members for both programming and membership. Please email your interest to us at temporacine@gmail.com.

Networking is an essential part of the Tempo Racine membership experience. A way in which the organization lives out its mission to advance the impact of women leaders is by providing opportunities for influential women to connect and foster relationships.

With that in mind, I am delighted that Tempo Racine and Tempo Kenosha will gather on Thursday, May 5th from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Kenosha Country Club. This members-only event will include lightly guided networking, appetizers, community-themed door prizes, and a cash bar. The event is generously sponsored by Johnson Financial Group.

Advanced registration is required. Please visit www.temporacine.org to secure your spot by April 30th.

The Tempo Racine board of directors is pleased to provide this opportunity as part of our 2021-23 focus on enhancing member engagement, building support through external community partners, and building the organization’s brand.

Should you have questions or want to share your thoughts on our focus areas, please contact us at temporacine@gmail.com or complete the annual member survey by April 30th.

I look forward to seeing you at the Tempo Racine/Tempo Kenosha Networking Event on May 5th!

At our March meeting, Membership Committee Chair Liz Powell announced our updated membership criteria. In keeping with our goals of building the organization’s brand and enhancing member engagement, the 2021-22 Board of Directors believed it was crucial to update our membership criteria to align with our community.

Going forward, applicants must have at least three of the following criteria to be considered for membership:

    • At least 7 years of work experience
    • Holding a mid-level leadership role or higher in her organization
    • Community Service Experience
    • Holding a post-secondary degree or certification
    • Relevant additional achievements (Leadership Racine graduate, Woman of Distinction)

If you are interested in nominating someone for membership, please send a letter of recommendation to temporacine@gmail.com. In the letter, make sure to mention at least three criteria that the nominee meets for consideration.

Letters are reviewed on a rolling basis by the Membership Committee. Should you have specific questions about the membership application process, please email temporacine@gmail.com.

Thank you to Liz Powell for leading this effort and to the Board of Directors for their careful consideration of the criteria. I look forward to welcome new members!

"Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." – Vincent Van Gogh

Behind the scenes, the Tempo Racine Board of Directors have been hard at work. We’ve updated the website, bylaws, membership criteria, and member survey. All of this was accomplished by a dedicated and hardworking group of leaders focused on preserving the mission and vision of Tempo Racine.

Last July, I spoke about the Board’s three focus areas: building the organization’s brand, enhancing member engagement, and building support through external community partnerships. We are well on our way and making progress in all three areas.

In a few weeks, we will launch the member survey. This is a great opportunity to let the Board know how we’re doing. What do you like about Tempo Racine? What would you like to see more of? We want to know how to keep you engaged in the organization.

We will also share a special announcement with information on our updated membership criteria designed with our community in mind. I look forward to sharing more information on this very important topic.

Thank you, Beth Bender, Liz Hanson-Will, Andrea Kiemen-Rognsvoog, Liz Powell, and Jessica Safransky Schacht, for your time, efforts, and collaboration.

TEMPO Racine - Committed to furthering the development of women leaders in our community.

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about the word "community." The characteristics of a community include a shared purpose, interest, or goal, frequent interaction, sharing or pooling of resources, and a shared location, and community members share common features or characteristics. The Tempo Racine community shares a common purpose of developing women leaders in our community. Organization members come together each month to connect, share resources, and support one another. I love seeing the interconnectedness of our members and how we openly welcome guests to our community. Thank you for continuing to be a part of the Tempo Racine community.

I would also like to specifically thank Andrea Kiemen-Rognsvoog for our newest networking sponsor – USI Insurance Services. We are happy to have them join our community!

This festive holiday season feels like the right time to share warmest thanks for your continued support of Tempo Racine. Thank you for being a part of this organization. You play an important role in advancing our mission. The guidance and support that we give one another are appreciated all throughout the year. My role as president would not be possible without a strong and reliable board of directors. Their dedicated efforts ensure that Tempo Racine continues to prosper and be an organization that supports Racine’s female leaders.

I hope that you take this time to reflect on your professional journey and remember the lives that you have positively impacted through your work and volunteerism. I wish you continued success and hope you have a joyous holiday season.

It is my pleasure to begin the October 2021 Carolynn’s Corner by welcoming our newest member, Morgan Burns! Ms. Burns works at Kane Communications Group as the Brand & Creative Director. She is a familiar face at Tempo Racine. Ms. Burns has acted as both a guest and presenter. In addition to her work at Kane Communications, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Society of Marketing Professionals. Ms. Burns wrote in her application that “the women of Tempo Racine are genuinely invested in the advancement of women in Racine.” We agree with you Ms. Burns and are delighted to have you join us.

Tempo Racine is built on three pillars: leadership, mentoring, and networking. A hallmark experience that we all share are the discussions throughout our monthly meetings. Although some discussions may start at Tempo, we know that they don’t end there and often extend well-beyond our time together.

This summer, when I shared the organization’s focus areas, there was an explicit call to enhance member engagement. There are many ways in which this organization can engage its members through continued traditions and by adding new, desired features and opportunities that lead back to our three pillars.

This month, I am pleased to share that our Membership Directory has been relaunched and is available on our website. To access the directory, members must log into their account. Once logged in, the Membership Directory will appear in the menu on the top and left-hand side of the page between About Us and Events. On the Membership Directory page, members will see a list of current members and are able to click on individual profiles. I encourage you to check out the profiles and reconnect with someone.

If you are looking to update your profile, please log into the website and go to the ‘View profile’ option that is listed underneath the blue and white avatar. From there, you can edit your profile and update your privacy settings. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with this feature and send your questions and feedback to temporacine@gmail.com.

I’m looking forward to our meeting in November with our special guests Dr. Bryan Albrecht (Gateway Technical College), Dr. Deborah Ford (UW- Parkside), and Dr. John Swallow (Carthage College).

We’d like to hear from you. Send us your good news, announcements, and more at temporacine@gmail.com

Let's get out there and advocate, elevate, and accelerate!
