Women on the Frontline: Community and Civic Engagement
Women on the Frontline: Community and
Civic Engagement
Join Tempo Racine in welcoming Kelly Scroggins-Powell, Executive Director of Racine Women for Racial Justice, as she leads us in a frank conversation about the state of our community and how we can effectively engage change. We will look at contributing factors, current challenges and crises plus opportunities for involvement. We know that throughout the world, women are instigators of change and this is no different in our local community.
A Racine native, Kelly has been a leader of non-profits for more than 30 years and an entrepreneur for more than 15 years. A staunch proponent for justice and equity, she co-founded RWRJ to encourage women to raise their voices and use their collective power to bring racial healing and transformative change.
Kelly is also the owner of Par Excellence Homes and Kelly's Consulting Services and the founder of Restoration Ministries-Racine. She has received the Black Women's Task Force Woman of the Year Award, The W.O.W (Women of Worth) Woman of the Year Award and the 2021 Racine YWCA One Mission Award. She is very excited to welcome her first grandchild, a boy named Grey, in April 2023 and embrace the role of grandparent!
